Bringing Hope to the Hopeless

Dear Friends and Family,

“Some Send, Some Give, Some Go.  We are all called to DO something.”  You watch the news, you see children hungry, desperate and dying.  Do you know the many ways a human life can be hungry, desperate and dying that having nothing to do with the physical.  Children can be hungry for hope, desperate for love and dying from fear. My heart breaks for the children of the world without hope. So it is, with a broken heart and a passion for change, I have accepted God’s invitation to GO!

Benin letter #1I’ve been asked to join the team to go to Allada, Benin, West Africa the first two weeks in November. Our small team will consist of two of us from Landing Place Church and three others from Crossroads Community Church in Illinois. We will be partnering for the 3rd year in a row with OneHope to distribute The Book of Hope in schools around Allada.  This interactive, age appropriate booklet presents the story of Jesus and His Love for the children of Benin and the world.  We will also have the opportunity to visit one of the 3 churches, like the one pictured here from 2012 in d’Agassa-Godomey, we have helped to plant through our partnership with OneHope.  On our last Sunday we will help to launch a 4th church in a new area around Allada, that has no life giving church family. Our work in this part of the world is so vital because Benin is the founding place of Voodoo.  Benin was also a major shipping port for the export of slaves to the Americas during our countries early history.

This is a huge task and opportunity. Our team cannot do it alone.  I must gather a team around me that will pray for me and our team, before, during, and after.  I cannot do anything apart from your prayer support and covering. I am asking you to pray for protection as well as provision.  Each participant of our team needs to raise $3200 to cover costs.  As you pray for me, if God leads you to support me financially, please listen to Him.  If you would like to support me and would like giving credit for your taxes, please make out your checks to Landing Place Church, and write “Benin—Lori Emery” in the memo line.  Please give or mail your checks to Lori Emery, 10176 Sedalia St. Commerce City, CO 80022.  We will then make sure the funds get to the right place.

Any money I raise over my “need” will either go to help another person on our team, and/or be used directly to help plant the newBenin letter #2 church.  Cost for each church we will be working with to put up the beginning structure is $2500, like the one pictured here from last year.

As I began this letter with a quote from Pastor Jon Eastlick, “Some Send, Some Give, Some Go”.  It’s time for me to GO, so would you send me by praying for me and our team.  I will provide updates along the way for those that commit to sending me by supporting me and covering me in prayer.  Know that as I go, I will be taking you and your support with me to sustain me each and every day.

Sincerely,

Lori Emery
