It’s the end of a long day. You’ve expended your energy on grasping for straws of appreciation. You long to experience one ounce of being seen and known and deeply loved. You fall into bed empty and lonely. You’ve used up all your gifts for mere breadcrumbs that just don’t satisfy your hunger for more.
This hunger for more is the root of most of our struggles, hurts, and anger. It’s where depression and sadness and despair are birthed.
We struggle and fight and claw our way to acceptance and approval and attention – and love. We allow temptations to win, we compromise ourselves, we give in and we give up.
I’m a human person just like you. I have fallen into the same traps you have. I have felt that deep longing, so much so it hurts way down into my insides. I’ve confused people’s love for God’s love. I gasped for air when human people can’t possibly provide what only God can.
In my deepest, darkest, most shameful moments I’ve compromised something valuable to get that longing fulfilled. In shame and regret, I fall down on my knees in tears, begging God to forgive me.
Are you in a similar place?
I’m about to tell you something that could turn your whole life around. If you knew this truth deep down in every part of your being, you could leave shame, anger, hurt, betrayal, approval in the dust. Your heart could heal, your relationships could mend, and you could live as if you were actually enough.
Here it is…
Are you ready?
God is crazy about you.
Lemme say it again. GOD IS CRAZY ABOUT YOU. You are seen, really really seen. You are known, every bit and piece of you. And you are deeply, madly, passionately, loved. A love you’ve never experienced by any other human person in your life. Even when you’ve been dragged away by temptation and fall into places you know you shouldn’t be, God is STILL crazy about you!
“He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me.” Psalms 18:19
Imagine with me, God takes your face in his gentle grasp while he looks you straight in the eyes, and says to you: “_____________________, I am CRAZY about you. All of you. Every single inch of you. The good, strong, gifted inches and even the dark, hidden, ashamed inches. You are enough.”
Take in the truth. Let it in like the air you breathe. Like the water you drink. Like the food you eat.
Authenticity is birthed out of our knowledge of God’s love for us. We don’t have to hide or pretend or strive to be who others expect or need us to be.
What would happen in your heart if you really lived with the truth about God’s love for you?
How would it change your relationships?
How would it affect your decisions?
Would you use your gifts out of gratitude for God’s love instead of grasping for people’s love?
Would you live each day more authentically knowing God loves you exactly the way you are?
Dearest friend, you are one gifted, talented and LOVED human being. You are enough. Go be you.
